“Reclaiming the Narrative” — How GAIL Consults Launched Central Georgia’s First Black Giving Fund and Drove Statewide Visibility

Overview

  • Industry: Philanthropy / Community Development
  • Timeline: 2020–2021
  • Scope of Work:  Strategic Communications, Campaign Launch, Brand Development, Community Engagement

CFCG was ready to launch a historic initiative—the Central Georgia Empowerment Fund, the region’s first Black Giving Fund—but needed trusted leadership to develop the messaging, lead the launch, and engage the community in a way that felt authentic, inclusive, and visionary. With tensions around racial justice rising nationally, this work had to be bold, strategic, and culturally grounded.

GAIL Consults led the effort from ideation to implementation:

  • Crafted the fund’s name, mission, and vision statement
  • Dveloped messaging that honored legacy while inspiring action
  • Designed all visual and written assets, including the website section, donation page, and branded campaign materials
  • Created and launched an educational webinar series to raise awareness
  • Facilitated partnerships and donor outreach across Black leaders, churches, and grassroots groups
  • Authored internal strategy documents to guide the fund’s growth

  • Fund successfully launched with over $100K pledged in the first year
  • Achieved media coverage and regional awareness
  • Sparked a movement of community-led philanthropy in Central Georgia
  • CFCG became one of the few community foundations in the South to house a fund explicitly focused on Black-led giving

“Nancy’s voice was the heartbeat of this fund. She brought strategy, soul, and structure to an idea that needed both care and clarity. The community felt seen—and they showed up.”
